Create your own Motivational Poster
Do you like my motivational poster? I created it from this website called Clip Your Photos. There are many Make Your Own Poster sites. I like this one because it is simple to use and does not require me to register. I am quite often lazy to register even for free because it will leave a trail of my email information all over the web for services which I may only use occasionally.
You can customize your Motivational Poster
I just like to paste mine on my own blog because my digital camera isn't all that great and my image is a bit blur as you can see. It wouldn't make a nice motivational poster for hanging on the wall in my home though it looks lovely here on my blog and I do feel quite proud about it. Proud about selecting the right photo and proud about adding in the right words even if the words may sound a little bit cliched. I think the saying and the image is perfect. It looks great. Accept for the slightly blurry image. I have got a sharper image result in some other Create your own Motivational Poster sites but perhaps my picture is not clear enough to begin with.
There may be other Create Your Own Motivational Poster websites which offer much more customization and better photo results, but for me, this basic and simple one will do because I don't want to print it. I just want something quick and easy that will generate a code for me to copy and paste on my blog.
Now about my quote:
There is beauty all around, all you need to do is look.
Although my picture is that of a scenery, in this case, man-made and not nature. I usually like to associate quotes and sayings with peaceful pictures of nature scenes. This picture is the one I took when I visited i-City, Shah Alam, Malaysia. There can be beauty in things that are man-made too.
Similarly, I think this quote applies to people too. There are all sorts of people in this world. Some are quiet. Some are loud and aggressive but if you look harder and closer, you may sometimes find a warm core or center in these personalities.
The saying "Never Judge a Book by Its Cover" comes to mind. Sometimes people behave in certain ways to mask or hide their own insecurities and fears but if you look harder and get to know the person more, you may just find that there is beauty in the person. All you need to do is look.

Keep Busy
Finally, quote #12 in the Quotes for Life series. Here it is...
"Keep busy at something. A busy person never has time to be unhappy."
This is a simple thing to do. There are so many things to learn in this world. I have 101 things to do in my "To Do List". As for My "To Learn List", well, I have even more.
I want to learn to bake, to sew, to sing, to dance, to blog better, to create better squidoo lenses, to write better, to speak and write Chinese, music theory, etc. My list is very long indeed. What about yours?

Do what you can for those less fortunate than yourself
This is #11 in the series of Quotes for life.
"Do what you can for those less fortunate than yourself".
There is this little donation box and the supermarket where we shop. Each week, we would let the kids put in a little money to donate to those who are less fortunate. We explained to the kids that there are many children out there who are less fortunate than them.
Although our donation may not be much, we try to do it on a weekly basis. It feels nice and at the same time it is a lesson to the kids too. At the same time, they do enjoy putting in notes into the donation slot.
We may not contribute a lot but a little from everyone goes a long way.
Donation need not only come in monetary form. You can donate your time as well. :)

Quotes about Moving On
I have 3 more quotes on life to share but I have been taking my time haven't I? Anyway, here is #10 at last...
#10 Quotes on Life - Don't hold post mortems. Don't spend your time brooding over sorrow or mistakes. Don't be the one who never gets over things.
In other words, move on!
I hope I can do so too. I hope I can move on from my recent troubles. Our life has been stalled by a spate of troubling affairs but it is time to move on now.
It is time to put them behind us and move on.
"Courage is not the absence of fear, but simply moving on with dignity despite that fear." - Pat Riley

Have many interests
Gosh! I am so behind on this blog. Haven't been updating it. Whatever happened to my a quote a day? No wonder I haven't been thinking positively of late. I haven't been training myself to. So, I'm back.
Today's positive thought is...
Have many interests. If you can't travel, read about new places.
I like this one simply because my whole family loves to read. Books are our treasured possessions. We have a whole bookshelf of books for everyone that is spilling over to recycling bags. Each one of us has a recycling bag of books waiting to be read.
I love how books takes me away to farway places. I get totally engrossed in them. For a moment in time, I get so caught up in the book, travelling through time and places which I have never been and will probably never see in my life. A book takes me there. Books take me to a whole new world. It makes me cry and laugh too. It is an emotional ride as well.
Ok, I admit, my reading list is not very deep. I read mostly magazines and novels but that is better than not reading at all. It is better than not having any interests.

Do not be jeolous of others

"Since hate poisons the soul, do not cherish jeolousy. Avoid people who make you unhappy."
Here I am continuing with the 8th out of the 12th commandment of life. :)
It is never a good idea to compare yourself with others. Be happy with who you are and what you have. You are unique. You are special.
Do not be envious of your sibling, friend, colleague, neighbour, classmates etc. Use your energy to improve your own life instead of wasting your life in miserable envy.

Happy Living Quote: Stay out of Debt

"Do the things you enjoy doing but stay out of debt."
#6 from the 12th Commandment of Life Series.
Money is the route of all evil. Don't allow money to rule your life.
Live within your means. Be happy with what you have. Enjoy the simple pleasures and things in life. Most importantly, stay out of debt. Don't let it weigh you down and lead to further problems.

Today's Quote: Be Yourself

#5 in Robert Louis Stevenson's 12th Commandment of Life is.....
"Don't let your neighbours set your standards. Be Yourself."
Don't compare yourself with others. Don't compare your lives, your achievements, your career, your family life, your successes in different areas. Just be happy with yourself and what you have.
Here are some other "Be Yourself" Quotes I like:
"Always be Yourself because the people that matter don't mind and the ones that mind, don't matter."
"Be Yourself. An original is always worth more than a copy."
"Be Yourself. That is something that you can do better than any other. Listen to the inward voice and bravely obey that."
"Be Yourself. God gave you shoes that fit you. So put 'em on and wear 'em."
"To be Yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is a great accomplishment."- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Food For Thought: "You can't please everybody"
Here is Robert Louis Stevenson's 4th Commandment of Life.
"You can't please everybody - Don't let criticism worry you."
In other words, Don't Worry.... Be Happy! Don't Worry, Be Happy! Whenever I hear these words, I always think about the Bobby McFerrin song below...

In other words, Don't Worry.... Be Happy! Don't Worry, Be Happy! Whenever I hear these words, I always think about the Bobby McFerrin song below...
Don't Worry, Be Happy
From the Movie "Cocktails"
Performed by Bobby McFerrin
Here is a little song I wrote
You might want to sing it note for note
Don't worry be happy
In every life we have some trouble
When you worry you make it double
Don't worry, be happy......
Ain't got no place to lay your head
Somebody came and took your bed
Don't worry, be happy
The land lord say your rent is late
He may have to litigate
Don't worry, be happy
Lood at me I am happy
Don't worry, be happy
Here I give you my phone number
When you worry call me
I make you happy
Don't worry, be happy
Ain't got no cash, ain't got no style
Ain't got not girl to make you smile
But don't worry be happy
Cause when you worry
Your face will frown
And that will bring everybody down
So don't worry, be happy (now).....
There is this little song I wrote
I hope you learn it note for note
Like good little children
Don't worry, be happy
Listen to what I say
In your life expect some trouble
But when you worry
You make it double
Don't worry, be happy......
Don't worry don't do it, be happy
Put a smile on your face
Don't bring everybody down like this
Don't worry, it will soon past
Whatever it is

Commandment of Life #3
"Don't take yourself too seriously. Don't think that somehow you should be protected from the misfortune that befalls other people"
I am not sure what Robert Louis Stevenson meant when he wrote this but I would imagine that he was asking people to ....
Lose that Ego. Be humble. Don't be so full of yourself, regarding yourself as above others and more important than others.

Random Acts Of Kindness

"We will not be remembered by our words, but by our kind deeds. Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath."
- Author Unknown
"It's not what you gather, but what you scatter that tells what kind of life you have lived."
- Author Unknown
The quote in the picture is very true. "No, Act of Kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted."
Recently I was in my parked car, a man behind me was struggling to park his car behind mine. I moved my car a little to the front to give him more space. He waved back gratefully and relieved. It was a very small act of kindness but I could see that he was grateful.
In another incident, my husband and I let a young woman with only one item on the grocery line behind ours to purchase her item first because we had two packed trolleys of groceries. She thanked us again and again, smiled and went on her way.
I am often grateful and happy by random acts of kindness, especially if it comes my way totally unexpected, even if its just a very small thing.
I try to do random acts of kindness by replying to emails from strangers requesting my help or opinion for any topic that I had blogged about. I try to reply genuinely to their questions and try to help the best that I can. That is my way to do a random act of kindness as a blogger. It is not hard at all. I can even do it from the comfort of my own home and it feels good to help others.
Have you done your random Act of Kindness today?
